Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: This positition may need to work evenings and weekends to meet student and program needs.

Job Summary and Description

The Department Chair will support the Alamo Colleges vision for student success and performance excellence by managing and teaching in assigned department(s) at the College. Chairs ensure that the department functions efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with College and District procedures and policies and other accreditation and certification guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in Nurinsg or higher.
  • Experience in college teaching, instructional administration and program planning and development with a record of increasingly broad responsibilities.
  • Three years of patient care expreinces as a Registered Nurse

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing.
  • Five years of experience leading academic departments in a higher education institution.
  • Seven or more years of experience as a faculty member at a higher education institution.
  • Two or more years of experince teaching in a professional nurisng program.
  • Experience in using simulation based education in nursing.
  • Expreince teaching in an Accreditation Commision for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Accredited Nursing Program

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licenses or certifications may be required depending on programs managed (e.g., Registered Nursing license)
