Summary
Under direction of Director and Managers of Payroll, plans, prepares, and supervises audit engagements in accordance with payroll protocol to ensure that all significant issues are addressed and that payroll procedures add value to engagement, and performs other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Under direction, performs a variety of payroll and auditing functions related to the maintenance and processing of payroll.
- Computes and processes payroll data such as new employees, hours worked, reduction in pay, addition in pay, separations, promotions, demotions, taxes, benefits and other related employee information from timesheets and other records;
- Monitors and process garnishment orders;
- Processes FSA pre-tax parking claims;
- Calculates and processes adjustments to leave time quotas;
- Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll;
- Maintains control sheet with data entered in SAP payroll system and compares totals from payroll system to totals on control sheet; audits changes to find discrepancies;
- Coordinates direct deposit for employees with their financial institutions;
- Documents all work thoroughly and completely to support audit results;
- Prepares periodic payroll reports and queries as needed;
- Produces complete and concise work product that conforms to payroll standards;
- Scans and uploads payroll documents to imaging database;
- Assists the front desk;
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field or three years payroll and/or payroll auditing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good knowledge of commonly accepted payroll practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills; good analytic and mathematical skills; skill in problem solving, decision making and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to operate personal computer, peripherals, basic office equipment and a 10-key calculator by touch; and the ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public.
- Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 5-10 lbs.; visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard. Subject to handling, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, standing and handling to perform the essential functions.
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 5-10 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
