Under general direction, is responsible for supervising large equipment moves of electronic components; assists in tracking hardware and software inventory and scheduling workload; trains and advises Technical Support staff; assists with the transition of infrastructure solutions for County LANs; assists network users on software requirements and resolves network crisis situations; assists with maintenance of land mobile radio and dispatch center communications equipment; leads projects and performs maintenance of network hardware and software; responds to after-hour calls; and performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervises large equipment moves which involves disassembling and reassembling electronic components
- Assists with maintenance of land mobile radio and dispatch center communications equipment
- Maintains updated knowledge in P25 trunked radio system, point to point microwave and analog land mobile radio
- Creates technical field and maintenance reports, as required. Create, update, and/or review system procedures and documentation on an ongoing basis
- Complete testing and system performance documentation
- Support and perform on-site commissioning, site acceptance and system testing. Perform programming and configuration of all system components.
- Prevents and corrects maintenance, set up, configuration, and performance optimization of Land Mobile Radio equipment
- Create and provide instruction materials for system users
- Employ of a variety of specialized test equipment and complex electronic schematics and diagrams in conducting fault isolation, and use the data gained through the troubleshooting/repair process to prepare and revise maintenance instructions and procedures and to recommend and implement manufacturer/engineering changes
- Performs indoor and outdoor RF signal measurements
- Supervises equipment moves which involves disassembling and reassembling electronic components. Maintains current records in inventory management and tracking systems
- Works with Network Architecture Team on the transition of infrastructure solutions for Local Area Network
- Assists manager in scheduling of Technical Support workload and major projects
- Assists manager in tracking hardware and software inventory
- Works with Network Architecture Team on the transition of infrastructure solutions for Local Area Network
- Trains and advises the Technical Support staff on network software applications
- Assists manager in scheduling of Technical Support workload and major projects
- Leads projects assigned to section and compiles status reports to management
- Assists users in determination of complex software requirements and needs
- Responds to after-hour calls related to network problems
- Analyzes and resolves network crisis situations
- Performs routine maintenance of network hardware and software
- Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Management Information Systems or a closely related field, and four (4) years computer network experience; OR successful completion of a relevant program from an accredited technical school and four (4) years computer network experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good knowledge of LAN software packages and operating systems; knowledge of programming languages and/or broad network integration techniques
- Skill in installing LAN hardware and software; skill in performing diagnostic system tests; skill in logical problem solving; skill in troubleshooting LAN hardware and software related problems
- Ability to recognize problem sand recommend solutions; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, Department Heads, Elected/Appointed Officials and co-workers
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Must have available transportation during entire workday; required to travel to remote sites within Bexar County
- Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance
- Required being on-call 24-hours a day
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
