This position is responsible for ensuring the continuity of supply of raw and packaging materials to production facilities. This position will lead a team of planners and improve the coordination of materials procurement across the network to maximize customer service levels and minimize inventory levels/waste. They are responsible for developing the Materials Planning function for packaging and ingredients by creating integrated processes with Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, and outside suppliers to execute the function of planning/replenishment & for sourcing specific categories.

Materials Management

  • Accountable for the supply plan for multiple (currently 20+) manufacturing locations and a network of co-packers
  • Oversee the supply chain from purchase order to delivery- including order fulfillment, shipping, receiving and inventory management for all packaging and materials- Owns the supply portion of the supply chain process
  • Determine available production line capacity and constraint information between operations and sales/marketing
  • Review Performance-to-Plan results and work with Operations to drive best in class results
  • Accountable for maintaining accurate costing and set-up data within SAP
  • Acts on behalf of the Director, Materials Management when absent.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Project Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of inventory reduction programs, warehousing programs, and limit the exposure to excess inventory cost and waste while balancing service
  • Identify and implement actionable savings opportunities to minimize product costs and maximize manufacturing yields.
  • Create and maintain supplier KPI database


  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies, policies, and practices throughout the company that ensure the correct balance of quality, service level, and lowest total cost


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree required: preferably in supply chain, economics, finance, agri-business


  • Minimum 3 years of supply planning, material planning, or sales forecasting
  • Minimum of 2 years of people management
  • CPG Experience Preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Experience with SAP/APO or other supply planning software packages (SAP Preferred)
  • Ability to work in a team environment between the functions of Operations, Customer Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, and interact regularly with senior management regarding goals and accomplishments
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive team leader who welcomes challenges
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
  • A proven track record of quickly identifying and resolving problem areas
  • Self-motivated and strives for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Flexibility and adaptive to a rapidly changing environment
  • Proven ability in mentoring and developing talent
  • Strong Excel-based PC analytic skills required

  • Travel- ~15% or as required
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Working Conditions And Physical Effort

  • Work involves light exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
  • Moderate physical effort required such as standing, sitting, and walking in and around the office; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; reaching, climbing, and kneeling as needed; utilizing fine dexterity, the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
