This position oversees CH Guenther food safety and compliance programs and the global food safety and quality auditing program framework. The scope of responsibilities includes but are not limited to: FSMA, GFSI, HACCP, Food Safety, Sanitation, and Auditing and compliance processes. They will also be responsible for all third party, customer and other food safety initiatives and programs within our network. This position is the focal point in establishing and disseminating Global Standards for Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems and auditing the framework for compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the CH Guenther (CHG) Food Safety and Quality Piller in support of the Guenther Productive System (GPS). Update, centralize and standardize the CHG Food Safety and Quality Assurance systems and programs.
  • Define and lead the development of a future focused framework of auditing and audit strategies of CHG food safety and quality systems. Review Customer related programs and determine synergies and coordinate and collaborate with QA Regional Directors to implement best practices.
  • Provide specialized knowledge of specific segments of quality/food safety systems or plant processes such as food safety and quality auditing, specific product line knowledge, microbiological, chemical, physical and allergen controls.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with the operations leaders to align on CHG food safety and compliance strategy and execution and drive change where needed with a sense of urgency.
  • Building programs and capability in others to ensure audit ready 24/7 culture through understanding and disseminating CHG Food Safety and Quality expectations through one CHG QFS framework.
  • Conduct verification and maintenance of the CHG food safety and quality systems, hazard analysis and sanitation processes, prerequisite programs, manufacturing processes, plant environment and finished product.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate, regulatory and customer food safety and compliance requirements and completion of corrections and corrective actions. Review, maintain and monitor Food Safety Plans and HACCP programs at CHG facilities. Ensures proper execution of food safety plans and programs.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on behalf of the organization for food safety, FSMA, GFSI, GPS, FSQA Pillar, and company FSQA policies/procedures.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization and influences key stakeholders to make positive changes in food safety and quality systems.
  • Assure microbiological and analytical services and operations are meeting standards, accreditations, and best practices.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Regulatory experience.
  • Experience with SAP QM or other ERP systems experience, preferred.
  • Experience with compliance tools such as RedZone and TraceGains or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
  • Expert knowledge in GFSI, HACCP, PCQI, etc.
  • Expert knowledge in FDA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of USDA, CFIA, EU regulations would be a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with TPM and Lean process/culture.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a sense of urgency with the drive to make continuous improvements. Must understand change management and how to drive positive change throughout the enterprise as it relates to food safety and quality.
  • Ability to operate on multiple levels from the strategic to “hands on” to accomplish results.
  • Demonstrated ability to make and act on decisions while balancing speed, quality, and risk.
  • Ability to think clearly and in a decisive manner while remaining calm under in pressure situations.
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills backed-up by strong technical knowledge are critical to success in this role.
  • Must have good writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with customers and people at all levels of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develop functional responsibilities of individual(s) that report to this position and ensure that best-in class output is created.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Typical work in office environment or manufacturing environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Travel up to 50%, but may vary depending on business requirements.

$118,314.00 - $226,639.00

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
