Job Summary
Under general direction, is responsible for planning major and general activities that involve identifying and attracting the interest and commitment of local and out-of-town groups to use City facilities. May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff.
Work Location
Walker Ranch Senior Center - 835 W. Rhapsody Drive, San Antonio, TX (78216) or any of the City's Comprehensive Senior Centers.
Work Hours
7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - FridayEssential Job Functions

- Identifies and maintains files on organizations with potential for utilization of City facilities.
- Establishes and maintains contact with representatives of local civic groups and organizations to create and maintain their interest in special activities.
- May prepare and give presentations to individuals and groups, which
illustrate the desirability of City facilities for holding large special events. - Establishes and maintains the administrative procedures and files to accomplish and maintain records of scheduled and projected activities.
- Develops programs for utilization of City facilities for varied revenue producing activities in space available.
- Represents the City in supervision of special activities.
- Works with Public Relations Manager to develop media contact, draft and distribute news releases, and prepare reports after each event.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience planning, organizing, and coordinating programs, events, special and recreational activities.
Applicant Information
- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of basic management skills in organizing various events.
- Knowledge of basic principles, practices, and techniques of public relations.
- Knowledge of all types of media utilization for publicizing events.
- Knowledge of techniques and methods used in developing employee- training programs if assigned to the Aviation Department.
- Knowledge of supervision principles, practices, and techniques if assigned to the Aviation Department.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and implement various types of events and activities.
- Ability to project needs of events in order to secure all the appropriate staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
- Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
