Position Summary

Construction Coordinator Leads cross functional teams to assure projects and programs are delivered within scope, schedule and budget. Leads transmission & substation programs, process improvements and selected distribution projects to ensure the successful execution

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work for CPS Energy construction contractors.
  • Serve as the CPS Energy liaison for various internal user internal areas, developers, governmental agencies and consulting engineers.
  • Participate in pre-bid construction meetings and visit construction sites as necessary to coordinate.
  • Work closely with Outside Services Inspectors to monitor contractor performance and productivity.
  • Review, validate and approve contract service invoices.
  • Maintain all records pertaining to contracts and construction work.
  • Performs various analytical related works as required, such as project budget, costs, and schedule projections.
  • Maintain monthly progress summary reports of contract work completed and in the queue.
  • Monitors and reports out on area goal achievement progress.
  • Assists with other coordinator’s duties in their absence.
  • Perform special projects on occasion as requested by supervision
  • Identifies and encourages safe working practices.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to read and interpret CPS Energy job sketches, construction plans, subdivision plats and CPS Energy maps
Basic math skills (addition, math, multiplication, and division); demonstrated ability to work with numbers; 10-key skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
Ability to coordinate multiple projects/work assignments to achieve a high level of output and correctness with minimal assistance and supervision
Ability to work both in office and field environments, meet at various locations for job discussion, and work flexible hours as needed
Possess a valid driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Experience working knowledge of CPS Energy construction practices for one or more of the following areas; OH, S&M, URD, UED, UG, GAS
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain productive and efficient working relationships with consultants, contractors, supervisors as well as internal and external departmental officials
High motivational level, goal-oriented, flexible and innovative
Strong organizational/facilitative/leadership skills including the ability to work effectively at all levels of the of the CPS Energy organization as well as outside organizations
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, project systems and/or WMIS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actual field experience installing distribution infrastructure
  • Above average PC skills utilizing outlook, shared printers/plotters access, excel, SAP and WMIS
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead Teams as well as function as a team player
  • Ability to properly develop project schedules and enforce procedures to achieve stated project time and cost objectives
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding schedule overruns, change orders and coordination of multiple large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of procurement and accounting practices

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi- functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
