Position Summary

Exempt position supporting the Office of the Chief Legal and Ethics Officer regarding legal compliance, administration, and operational activities. Performs tasks to support and assist with legal activities, manages bankruptcy, and manages record retention both hardcopy and electronic files.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and manage initiatives regarding legal compliance according to the organization’s project methodology.
  • Manage legal compliance with regulatory, federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple, cross-functional aspects of the Legal Services business unit:
  • lead development of a document storage retention process in line with company policies.
  • Support the work of the CPS Energy Board of Trustees and related tasks for facilitating Board meetings and communications.
  • ensures important documents are stored with the primary responsibility of maintaining internal enterprise document storage folders.
  • ensure regulatory and general litigation filings are coordinated with outside counsel and made timely and accurately.
  • Project manage legal compliance projects within Legal Services and with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain governance manuals and manage internal governance processes.
  • Facilitate process improvement and group problem-solving.
  • Coordinate Board Secretary requests.
  • Coordinate and work with the Board Secretary, attorneys, Legal Services staff, and Board Relations to prepare Board-related documents.
  • Develop process improvements and maintain procedure documents.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of confidential information.
  • Effectively communicate issues and recommend strategies and tactics.
  • Managing Open Records requests, NDA's, Subpoenas, Bankruptcy
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in-house and/or law firm experience in corporate practice area or with governmental or corporate governance.
  • Familiarity with general corporate or governmental governance and compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Paralegal Certificate

Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business events. After hours work may be required.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
