Position Summary
Required Qualifications
Candidates for this role are expected to demonstrate the following core qualifications:
- 5–7+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or data science, with proven delivery of production‑grade AI solutions.
- Strong hands‑on expertise in AI/ML concepts including:
- Machine learning and deep learning
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Generative AI and large language models (LLMs)
- Model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
- Proficiency in programming, with Python required; experience with Java, Scala, or R also expected.
- Experience designing and deploying scalable AI systems in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- MLOps and data pipeline experience, including model lifecycle management, CI/CD, monitoring, and reliability practices.
- Technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, guiding architecture decisions, and overseeing multiple concurrent AI initiatives.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
CVS Health lists the following as preferred or differentiating qualifications:
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, and related tooling.
- Knowledge of big‑data and distributed processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and modern data platforms.
- Experience implementing AI governance, data privacy, security, and ethical AI practices, particularly in regulated industries.
- Demonstrated ability to define AI strategy and roadmaps, balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term platform evolution.
- Background in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated domains (HIPAA/GDPR familiarity is beneficial).
- Prior experience leading cross‑functional teams and partnering with product, business, and executive leadership
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field is required
- Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant technical field are preferred but not required.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$92,700.00 - $185,400.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
