Position Summary

This position is responsible for screening orders, research, and review of prescription overrides, accurately and efficiently reading, interpreting, and entering prescriptions into the computer system in a timely fashion, and/ or thinking through and solving escalated prescription issues. Through your skills and knowledge, you will offer solutions needed to help simplify the customer health care experience. Areas of focus for Pharmacy Technicians may include doctor and member facing outbound calls, inbound calls, entering patient and prescription information into our system, and faxing physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions, and formulary changes. To help support development and maximize workflow, you will be asked to perform other pharmacy functions as required.


Addresses questions about over-the-counter medications, assists with product selection, and provides guidance on non-prescription healthcare products.

Collects and inputs prescription information, ensuring adherence to pharmacy protocols and legal requirements.


Assists in insurance verification activities by contacting insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and resolving insurance-related issues or questions.

Processes payments, and accurately manages financial transactions, including insurance claims and copayments.

Manages inventory on the pharmacy front end, including over-the-counter medications, health products, and related items.


Provides patient education and counseling on over-the-counter medications, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and proper usage.

Ensures compliance with pharmacy regulations, laws, and guidelines, including patient confidentiality, controlled substance regulations, and prescription labeling requirements.

Prioritizes tasks, manages customer queues, and communicates effectively with other pharmacy personnel to ensure efficient and timely service.

Provides training and mentoring to less experienced pharmacy technicians or support staff by sharing their knowledge and expertise, assisting in onboarding new employees, and contributing to maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

This role is remote, and candidates must be comfortable and effective working from a home-based environment. The ideal candidate is able to work independently, manage time well, and remain engaged and productive outside of a traditional office setting.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM -5:30 PM (Central Time)


Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must reside in the state of Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, or Texas.

  • Pharmacy Technician license in compliance with applicable state law where applicant resides:

    • Texas requires an active state technician license.

    • Idaho requires an active state technician license.

    • Florida requires an active state technician license.

    • Illinois and Arizona require active state technician license AND national certification (must be marked certified on state Illinois license).

  • Licensure and/or certificate per state or federal requirements.

  • Six months minimum pharmacy technician experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications.

  • Excellent customer service skills, primarily over the phone.

  • Experience with Medicare Part D

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$17.00 - $31.30

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
