Responsibilities Sr Mgr, Risk and Controls Job Summary: As a Manager II, Accounting, you'll manage the Risk and Controls Program for Accounting and Finance. You'll develop Partners who perform Risk and Control functions, including preparation and review of process documentation and risk matrices. You'll serve as subject matter expert and set goals for your department, while developing, coaching, and inspiring your team. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Manage a Program for Risks and Control over accounting and finance, including review of process documentation, documentation of risks, identification of controls, and remediation of any gaps/ deficiency Apply systems thinking to identify underlying problems and/or opportunities in Risks and Controls Program Integrate information from various sources to gain a broad understanding of issues and align people, systems, processes, and plans to achieve the greatest impact on H-E-B Identify major issues and trends in financial / operating reports; recognize their general implications for the business; evaluates business opportunities to make strategic choices that effectively mitigate financial risks and leverage trends Validate processes and outcomes with business areas, share alternative perspectives, and assist in steps to remediate Direct the team through complexity, demonstrating composure through ambiguous, challenging and uncertain situations. Initiate open and honest coaching conversations at all levels, including career path planning Build a vision for the future for Partners, customers, and technology; translates the vision to strategy, supporting programs, and milestones; applies understanding of requirements to meet objects and implements / leads change Make difficult decisions and take action to resolve issues hindering team effectiveness Manages execution of department key strategies Understands / communicates how work activities impact other areas of the business (including Internal Audit) and the financial implications of decisions The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Qualifications & Key Requirements: Work Experience: 8+ years of experience in Risk and Controls and Accounting - Required 5+ years of supervisory experience - Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP accounting practices and Risk and Control Programs Advanced MS Office and software skills, including database management, spreadsheets, and graphics Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail Advanced verbal / written communication skills Advanced time-management skills Strong management / leadership skills Ability to confidently communicate at all levels of management / leadership and Partners Ability to work with diverse business leaders to achieve results Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or a related field - Required Master’s Degree - Required Licenses/Certifications: CPA - Required Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment Sit for extended periods Work extended hours
