About this role
The primary role of the Resources Business Group (RBG) Technology Director, working internally as part of our RBG Professional Services Organization, is driving the strategic vision and tactical implementation of technology solutions within the RBG. As the RBG Technology Director, you will collaborate closely with the RBG leadership, our Corporate Technology team, and other HDR stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement technology initiatives. The primary focus will be on leveraging technology to optimize project execution and foster technology innovation within the RBG. This will be accomplished through the advancement and implementation of technology related to data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
Success in this role will include developing consistent delivery approaches, connecting people with technology-related talent, shaping our strategic plan for the next three to five years, and positioning HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace. The ability to communicate complex technological solutions clearly and in a fashion so that non-technology leadership can be informed is a must. The ability to be able to work across a spectrum of potentially competing issues/interests to prioritize and implement a strategy is also key. This position will report to the RBG Professional Services Director and will collaborate with the RBG related market sectors and business classes for overall resource allocation, key hires, quality control, and technical excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Facilitate development of a RBG technology vision and roadmap that identifies, develops, and monitors strategies for technology investments within the business group.
- Advancement and implementation of technology related to digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
- Collaborate and coordinate with external technology vendors as well as internal business class and corporate technology programs to align and advance RBG program initiatives for computer-related technology such as data analytics and artificial intelligence.
- Develop and implement standardized approaches and best practices for increased efficiency of technology related work and quality of delivery
- Work to identify programmatic hardware and software needs, such as high-powered computing, and work with corporate technology to facilitate and implement solutions.
- Development of technology guidelines, policies and RBG software validation and maintenance.
- Develop strategies and support practice and professional discipline groups to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
- Participate on project teams for larger programs and pursuits
Preferred Qualifications – experience with a few of the following is a plus:
- Experience evaluating technology, and software development and deployment.
- Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of technologies and their applied delivery within the power, waste, and/or industrial sectors.
- Experience in numerical modeling, digital production, data sciences, and artificial intelligence.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 5 executing projects or leading project teams in the Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction industries.

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information science, systems administration, or similar related field.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute applied technology strategies, implementation plans, and foster lasing change within an organization.
- Experience in data architecture, data management and well-versed in industry standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to find solutions that advance projects and initiatives
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
