Opportunity
HDR is seeking a talented Practice Lead for its Digital Advisory Practice.
The primary responsibility of the Digital Advisory Practice Lead is to support the growth of the Digital Advisory/ Management Consulting Services by guiding the strategy, planning, and execution of digital modernization initiatives for asset intensive agencies.
Our typical services include strategic technology planning, software strategy and procurement support, oversight for new software implementations, IT governance improvement frameworks and implementation, and data governance improvements, among other complementary services.
A key component of Digital Advisory Management is the integration of technology expertise with traditional engineering and planning experience to better serve our clients.
Responsibilities Summary
As a seller-doer, help increase HDR’s presence and visibility in the market and deliver large and complex projects with an eye for quality.
Support the Digital Advisory Services Director in establishing HDR as a key provider of digital advisory services.
Build internal and external networks and relationships to advance HDR’s presence with existing and new clients to understand upcoming project opportunities.
Participate in industry associations and conferences (e.g., APTA Tech) to maintain market visibility and continue advancing the practice.
Manage projects and client relationships on various projects.
Collaborate with other HDR business leads to identify cross-sector and geographic opportunities.
Lead marketing efforts for new work by identifying opportunities and leading or supporting proposal development and interview activities.
Independently produce high quality, client-ready project deliverables and proposals.
Share knowledge informally and formally; identify alternatives and priorities on complex projects.
Support digital advisory growth across market sectors and the intersection of asset management, digital advisory and risk management.
Act as the integrator of all necessary services and resources throughout HDR to deliver these services.
Preferred Requirements
12 years of related, progressively responsible roles in digital advisory, digital asset management and management consulting
Reputation for excellence in service delivery and sales, with high attention to details
Supported growing a similar practice nationally or in major market areas
Comprehensive experience working with highway, transit, utilities, public works, and/or aviation clients
An understanding of technologies used to support asset intensive agencies (EAM, PMIS, GIS, BIM, Decision Support tools)
A strong team player who can get things done, can provide leadership when needed or be led when required
Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional IQ
Involvement in key industry associations or conferences (i.e., AASHTO, APTA, Transportation Research Board)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., Civil Engineering)
Ideal Qualifications
A combination of engineering expertise (e.g., Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering), technology expertise (e.g., certifications and work experience), and management consulting skills
Master’s degree in related field (e.g., Civil Engineering)

Expected Travel: 40%
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- A minimum of 15 years as a consultant and extensive related experience
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary level information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
