HDR is searching for an Industrial Wastewater (IWW) Program Lead - Oil, Gas, and Chemicals Practice.
Candidates for the IWW Lead Oil, Gas, and Chemicals role should have a minimum of 10 years of direct experience with industrial water/wastewater (W/WW) treatment systems for the Oil, Gas, and Chemicals Industries and be capable of developing the business and leading teams of engineers and designers on detailed design and owner’s engineer projects.
In this role you will work to understand your client’s needs, develop creative solutions, support proposal development, lead the technical team, and lead the engineering design of complex industrial process W/WW systems.
The ideal candidate will have the requisite experience with Oil, Gas and Chemical Industries in North America.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead Business Development of IWW Services for our Oil, Gas, and Chemicals Practice in North America.
- Lead business development activities including proposal development, delivering technical presentations, pursuit interviews, and supporting the growth of client relationships.
- Collaborates/interacts with other Business Development Teams.
- Working on strategic projects as SME or/and technical advisor.
- Provide technical leadership for front-end oriented projects, including business case studies, and DBM’s.
- Help with client development and project positioning as senior process engineering advisor.
- Participate in strategic planning and the development of annual and long-term goals to support program and client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and talent acquisition and development.
- Conduct site visits to gather relevant technical information, support construction and commissioning, and project closeout.
- Performing or overseeing process design sizing and hydraulic calculations including mass balances, water treatment system conceptual designs, and calculations to determine required equipment and tank sizes and capacities.
- Develop design criteria, equipment and procurement specifications, studies, bid evaluations, and reports.
- Lead the development of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, piping arrangement drawings and installation details.
- Review and evaluate equipment vendor and installation contractor proposals and submittals.
- Develop and execute QA/QC plans.
- Lead technical teams including engineers, EITs, designers, and drafters.
- Work directly with project managers and clients to ensure that projects meet or exceed client expectations.
- Develop water supply and discharge agreements and permits. Meet and coordinate with permitting authorities.
- Provide internal and external training on industrial process W/WW systems.
- Implement, monitor and support company policies.
- Assist in the selection, training, development and management of technical personnel.
- Create recommendations for client facility standard monitoring systems, procedures, lab/chemical/reagent management, and staff training.
- Actively participate in industry conferences. Publish at least one technical paper annually.
- Process modeling experience.
- Existing relationships with industrial clients.
- Project engineering and management experience in a consulting or EPC firm.

- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- 10 years experience in related field
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
