Position Overview

The Repair Technician Lead troubleshoots, repairs and installs parts on commercial trucks. Repair Technician Leads safely contribute and support the production of commercial trucks that deliver superior Quality and Uptime. The Repair Technician Lead provides technical expertise, leadership and work instructions to the cohesive team.

Regular production hours are 5:30am-4pm Monday through Thursday. Must be flexible to work overtime as needed including same day and weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).


Responsibilities

Working within the International Operating System, read and follow written and verbal work instructions and standard operating procedures with emphasis on safety and quality inclusive of:

  • Demonstrating overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines
  • Pro-actively reviewing area for hazards, correct and inform appropriate supervision a necessary
  • Keeping supervisors and peers informed about accomplishments, quality/Safety issues/problems, and/or changes
  • Performing routine inspections on products, processes, materials to assure work output meets specifications of shop floor paperwork
  • Assembling and installing parts using hand tools, air tools and/or power tools
  • Fitting, bolting or otherwise connecting components and equipment according to work instructions and specifications
  • Attending to equipment and ensuring proper operation. Participate in the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance
  • Using diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy-duty vehicles and interpret test results
  • Reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic blueprints
  • Performing installation of hydraulic, pneumatic, and complex systems
  • Troubleshooting defects and perform repairs as directed
  • Performing disassembly and adjusts or repairs connectivity of engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and any other motor truck related equipment and systems.
  • Using tools of the trade including precision equipment, shop machines and power tools.
  • Utilizing International systems to retrieve drawings, special features and truck information
  • Initiating design change requests for Engineering review
  • Assisting and teaching other team members with modification procedures
  • Repairing and reassembling components and parts
  • Maintaining work area in a clean and organized manner
  • Striving for continuous improvement and implement process improvements
  • Assuring conformance to identified International Quality Standards
  • Performing all duties as required to maintain quality and productivity
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one year of lead experience
  • At least three years of mechanic work experience in automotive or heavy truck industry

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.   • Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per day):
    • Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl
    • Climb using both legs and arms
    • Head/neck movement
    • Reach outward or above the shoulder
    • Drive or operate equipment such as lifts and/or motor vehicles
    • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 45 pounds
    • Repetitive use of hands and fingers, both hands
    • Use of vibrating tools
    • Depth perception required
    • Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color
    • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces
    • May be required to work on units outdoors
  • Must have organization skills and effective communication skills with both technical and professional staff
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, work efficiently and with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines
  • Experience and basic proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Advanced knowledge of hand tools, ability to disassemble and reassemble using proper equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
  • Advanced knowledge of delta/critical joints and respective repair procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of proper torque value confirmation and identification of torque abnormalities
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial safety requirements related to hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials and environments

Desired Skills

  • ASE Certifications or Technical degree preferred
  • Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance
  • Cross-functional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supervising teams
