Systems Engineer
Port San Antonio
Position Summary
Performs all onsite service and analysis functions related to technology for Port San Antonio, including workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor-specific hardware and software.
Working Conditions
General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephones, multi-function printers and calculators. Manual dexterity, ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions and/or other business-related events. Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed for special projects.
Essential Functions
Network Administration- Maintains network systems, switches, and firewalls; administers security updates; and takes appropriate action for maintenance. Makes recommendations for network improvements and future roadmap upgrades. Basics of VoIP systems: Cisco CallManager or similar.
Storage Administration
Configure and administer Storage Area Networks (SAN) and associated components, including Fiber Channel switch administration.
Configure and administer data restores and disaster recovery
Configure and administer data backup clients and servers
Perform routine equipment checks and preventive maintenance
Storage analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of storage components
Collect details about effective storage management, emerging technologies, and similar subjects. and recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize storage
Server Administration
Configure and administer Microsoft virtualization systems: Hyper-V, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
Configure and administer Active Directory Services infrastructure, Group Policy Management, Certificate Services, Clustering Solutions, DNS infrastructure, and DHCP Services. MDM server, O365 ENTRA management.
Backup Administration
Responsible for gathering requirements, installation, configuration, and testing of backups in a high-availability enterprise system
Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms
Maintain all equipment for backup environments, including servers, disks, and cloud services.

Cybersecurity
Responds to security alerts, reports, and takes appropriate actions. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of recent practices and cyber technology. Help establish and record the most effective methods for managing all of Port San Antonio’s technology, covering both local and cloud-based systems
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate degree in computer science. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, preferred. Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: 5-6 years experience in computer networking, server administration and information technology.
License & Certification: CCNA, MCITP, MCITP Virtualization Administrator prefered, but combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must have current driver license.
Testing: Must pass criminal background check
Other:
Microsoft Active Directory, GPO Configuration,
TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, RDP, HTTP protocols.
Expertise in Windows Server: Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025.
Expertise in core Microsoft back-office solutions: Exchange, SharePoint, Intune, O365, Linux
Expertise in system center datacenter suite technologies: SCVMM
Cybersecurity software of a good understanding of protocols and firewalls.
