Raba Kistner is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Graduate Engineer - Forensics to join our Forensics team in the San Antonio, TX. The Graduate Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to perform forensic engineering assessments and studies in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget under the direction and guidance of senior staff members. This will include coordinating and participating in different activities, including field drilling, data collection and testing in the field, processing field data and assigning testing, coordinating and directing subcontractors, interpretation of engineering data, performing calculations and the preparation of written reports. Additionally, responsibilities include managing assigned projects, support of invoice and collection activities, and participating in assigned marketing responsibilities. The Graduate Engineer must also possess good communicating skills in dealing with fellow Raba-Kistner employees, clients, and general public. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the Building Envelope group, when required, and assisting in the preparation of proposals and proposed budgets. Other responsibilities include:
- Serves as a project professional on forensic engineering and testing projects including project coordination from the beginning to the end of the project and completes projects and reports in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget.
- Collects field supplies required for each job, and drives assigned equipment to sites.
- Prepares accurate and detailed field reports for data collected in the field.
- Prepares accurate and detailed logs for each geotechnical boring drilled on logging assignments.
- Assists with preparation of data and graphics including but not limited to Survey Data, Boring Location Maps and Boring Logs, as required.
- Prepares drawings on the CADD system, including but not limited to:
- Site plans
- Floor plans Contour drawings
- Other computer assisted drafting projects
- Coordinates with other departments and coworkers.
- Evaluates software/hardware and recommends changes.
- Prepares draft engineering reports for review and final reports for co-signature of senior staff members.
- Through personal professional development and working with senior staff, develops a working understanding of applicable standards, specifications, and engineering practices to develop competence to review assigned engineering reports and construction documents.
- Responsible for knowing and tracking project budgets throughout the project, and letting the Project Manager know when time or dollar budgets are exceeded.
- Serves as “company representative” while working with clients and professional organizations.
- Actively participates in specific technical and/or professional organizations as determined by Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (one or more of Structural, Environmental, Geotechnical, Forensics, and/or Civil), or related sciences.
- Engineer-in-Training license or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
- Occupational safety and health 40 hour training course or ability to pass course.
- Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
Good oral and written communications skills and ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization. Advanced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be self-motivated with good attendance record and be able to work independently.

Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain. Work responsibilities may require out of town travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
