Grade: 13 - Hourly Rate: $19.00.
The Steve Clouse Laboratory Department is currently accepting applications for an Internship. The selected Intern should be available to work immediately and continue through August 31, 2026. Internships can end at any time and at the discretion of the San Antonio Water System.
Interns are not to work over 29 hours in a work week. Hired Interns must attend required New Hire Orientation and New Employee Safety Orientation as scheduled.

Job Summary:
The internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about testing, quality assurance and quality control and laboratory systems. As an intern you will perform prep work for the Instrumentation section. Examples include digesting of samples and turbidity analyses; Perform analyses such as total suspended solids, total solids, volatile suspended solids and volatile solids; Prioritizes and organizes daily workload based on required turnaround time; Comprehends and follows laboratory Quality Assurance Plan (QAP); and Gain real-life work experience that compliments your education.
Minimum Qualifications:- Enrolled in Environmental Science or related field at an accredited college or graduate degree program.
- Two years of undergraduate coursework completed is required
- Computer skills necessary including the ability to learn new computer programs quickly. Microsoft Office suite required. Please list all on your application.
- Must be a self-starter and detail oriented with organizational skills. Please list on your application examples of tasks completed or other positions held that required these skills. These examples can be from school or volunteer experiences

- Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Physical requirements include lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds occasionally. Requires visual acuity and hand-eye coordination. Working conditions are in a laboratory environment with frequent to constant standing. Frequent exposure to chemicals, waste materials and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to noxious fumes, vapors, and odors.
