SWBC’s Real Estate Investor program offers Excess & Surplus insurance solutions to the marketplace with Property all-risk coverage including the perils of earthquake, flood, and named storm subject to applicable policy exclusions.
As a member of SWBC’s REI Underwriting team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will underwrite and analyze new and renewal E&S property business utilizing the SWBC way of underwriting framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity ensuring a high-level of service to customers

Essential duties include the following:
- Underwrites and assesses all new and renewal business within underwriting authority by obtaining relevant risk information for presentation in the agency’s described format for efficient quoting and processing to accounts and agents.
- Responds to asset protection questions by telephone, mail, or in person, and maintaining effective working relationships with current customers, prospective customers, and agency personnel.
- Assists in the processing of new and renewal insurance policies by verifying insurance coverage and premium amounts, updating insurance records, and communicating information to the appropriate department.
- Assists in processing claims by obtaining sufficient claim information from accounts, forwarding pertinent account and claim information to adjusting firm
- Assists in providing testing and functionality analysis assistance to the IT department in preparing the original design and enhancements of the Websure database and other automation systems and procedures.
Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR 5 or more years in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Advanced knowledge of E&S Property lines of business and experience working with wholesale distribution.
- Ability to effectively assess risk.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
- Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating.
- Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
