SWBC is seeking talented individual to join our Employee Benefits team as an Associate Benefits Consultant. This role is designed to develop future Benefits Executives by building foundational sales and consulting skills while gaining a well-rounded understanding of an employee benefits firm. The Associate Benefits Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Sales, serving as an assistant to the team while supporting and learning all core functions across the division. Through hands-on experience, job shadowing, and exposure to sales, service, analytics, communications, and wellness, this role provides a comprehensive path for career development within the organization.

Essential duties will include the following:

  • Generate new business opportunities through outreach, networking, and social selling strategies (LinkedIn, digital campaigns, etc.).
  • Partner with Employee Benefits Executives to identify and pursue prospects, particularly in the small to mid-sized market segment.
  • Support pipeline development by scheduling meetings, qualifying leads, and assisting with proposal preparation.
  • Conduct follow-ups with prospects and maintain consistent communication to advance sales opportunities.
  • Leverage social media platforms to build a professional brand and engage decision-makers (HR leaders, CFOs, business owners).
  • Collaborate with the corporate digital marketing team to align on campaigns, messaging, and lead generation strategies.
  • Share market insights and client feedback to enhance marketing content and outreach effectiveness.
  • Assist in servicing smaller client accounts, including answering questions, coordinating renewals, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Help gather client data and assist in obtaining and reviewing carrier proposals
  • Support enrollment processes and employee communications as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and sales activity in CRM systems
  • Develop foundational knowledge of employee benefits products (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits).
  • Participate in training and mentorship programs to build consulting and sales skills
  • Stay informed on industry trends, compliance updates, and competitive offerings.

Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, or related field gained through internship or other exposure to sales.
  • Possess or obtain within ninety days of date of hire, a current Group 1 License.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable using social media platforms for professional outreach and networking.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to learn in a sales-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and/or digital marketing concepts.
  • Interest in pursuing insurance licensing (or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe).
