Directs and administers all activities of the Health Information Management operations. Ensures that all health information management practices meet accreditation standards and state standards.
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
- Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
Experience in the field of medical records to include the preparation, maintenance, and management of medical records and health information systems. Ability to identify, define, and resolve managerial, administrative, and computerized medical record problems. Skill in developing new policies and procedures for administering electronic medical record programs in order to improve program effectiveness and/or apply newly developed programs or theories to problems that require new approaches. Experience working with patients is critical as a sense of urgency is extremely important in handling day to day issues. Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical and technical personnel. Demonstrated leadership in a management environment with core skills of detail orientation, follow through, process design, excellent communication and relationship management.
Oversees budgeting, quality improvement and staff hiring, evaluation and supervision. Responsible for affecting the ongoing quality and efficiency for all areas and processes of the department. Responsible for effective and efficient organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Department, to ensure successful maintenance of patient records. Manages the Epic applications and collaborates with Epic team and Clinical Operations for upgrade roll-outs and special projects. Oversees implementation and adherence to the HIM compliance and clinical documentation improvement programs. Serves as a subject matter expert for department managers, staff, physicians and administration for obtaining information or clarification on documentation standards, state and federal law and regulatory requirements relating to HIM. Investigates and assists in resolution of HIPAA and patient privacy issues. Strives to maintain adequate staffing to ensure accurate and timely processing of records. Identifies, communicates and coordinates staff activities to address opportunities to improve processes. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training employees; setting and adjusting pay rates and hours of work; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency, handling complaints/grievances and disciplining when necessary. Performs all other duties as assigned.
