The Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery, in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a fellowship-trained Colorectal Surgeon to join our academic faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Preferred candidates will have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Applicants must have completed a general surgery residency and colorectal surgery fellowship, be board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery, and be eligible for a Texas medical license. Advanced robotic and endoscopic experience is preferred.
The Division supports multiple clinical partners, including our primary academic affiliate, University Health—a 960-bed Level I Trauma and tertiary referral center, University of Texas Multispecialty Research Hospital, and other community health system hospitals. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in the UT Mays Colon and Rectal Cancer Clinic, the UT MARC Colorectal Clinic for benign disease, and University Health System clinics. There is ample access to both robotic and non-robotic operative blocks, as well as dedicated endoscopy time. Participation in a weekly multidisciplinary gastrointestinal tumor board is mandatory. In addition to other colorectal surgeons, the care team includes multiple levels of residents, medical students, and advanced practitioner support.
The position includes participation in a shared call pool with surgical oncology, advanced minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, and colorectal surgery faculty. Call occurs approximately one week every eight weeks.
