The Core Lab Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of the core laboratory staff and helps manage core laboratory procedures. Guides the day-to-day operations of the core laboratory. The supervisor supports the academic mission of the institution by contributing to teaching, mentorship, and research activities. Ensures the team complies with federal and state regulatory standards and follows UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital policies and procedures.

• Advanced technical skills in performing and analyzing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures.
• Knowledge of general laboratory, safety and quality control, principles, techniques, and terminology.
• Excellent customer service skills, for both internal and external customers.
• Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to keep accurate, detailed records.
• Ability to use complex medical equipment.

• Prepares work schedules and assigns duties to laboratory staff.
• Performs experimental testing procedures and suggest changes to increase the validity and reliability of results.
• Ensures validity and accuracy of test results.
• Instructs trainees in procedures and techniques of performing tests.
• Secures media and supplies for clinical testing and research studies and manages supply requests.
• Directs the technical activities of the core laboratory and assigned laboratory staff.
• Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures in preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
