Academic Pediatric Hospitalist

Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Pediatrics and Division of Inpatient Pediatrics, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, is recruiting a Clinical Instructor/Assistant Professor to fill a full-time pediatric hospitalist faculty position. This position will provide clinical time at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, a part of University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Members of the Division of Inpatient Pediatrics here are an amazing group of clinicians, educators, QI investigators/researchers, and administrators. The hospitalists cover two robust inpatient pediatric services, a newborn couplet care nursery, and a busy sedation service. There is a mix of children with bread-and-butter pediatric conditions, a high volume of complex care patients, inpatient rehab patients, and exciting and challenging patients with clinical conundrums from all over South Texas. The patient population we care for includes a large cohort of underserved children and refugees.

University Hospital is also the only hospital providing Level I Pediatric trauma care in San Antonio. Our division and patients are supported by all standard resources, including NICU, PICU, and all standard subspecialty and surgical services. Division members provide education, both through clinical rotations and pre-clinical curriculum, for medical students at all levels. The division also supports the inpatient education and supervision of our pediatric residency program. Our PHM fellowship is entering its third year, so the hospitalists are integral in shaping our next generation.

The division is highly engaged in nursing and administrative leadership and has strong representation, and effective working relationships in our clinical setting with staff and ancillary services. The division culture is extremely supportive, cohesive, and collaborative. It is not just a team of physicians working together but a family.

Please consider joining our outstanding group of well-balanced and hard-working hospitalists who are excited to grow clinical services in a beautiful hospital setting and strive every day to provide excellent care to the children of San Antonio and South Texas.
