We are seeking analysts with experience in Epic Beaker Clinical Path, Anatomic Path and Molecular for exciting opportunities as we design, implement, test, validate and maintain Epic Beaker and blood bank software. The Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System (LIS)/Blood Bank LIS Analysts will be able to operate under minimal supervision and will report to the UT Health San Antonio EpicCare Beaker Manager.

FSAs - Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.

Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.

Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
  • Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
  • Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
  • Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.

Education:

Licenses and Certifications:

Epic Certification must be maintained per Epic Corporation Standards.

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience with Epic Beaker CP or AP or Blood Bank or Molecular software development/build lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to successfully execute multiple assignments simultaneously in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated critical and analytical thinking proficiencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting competencies.
  • Excellent organizational management skills.
  • Project Management skills is desired.


  • Under minimal supervision, the Beaker/Blood Bank analyst will work on the design, build, configuration, testing and maintenance of Epic Beaker clinical/anatomic path and blood bank software.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the lab team to ensure workflow, device integration, testing, validation, and Beaker functionality meeting specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams to ensure Epic Beaker and blood bank software meeting specifications.
  • Performs ongoing maintenance and configuration updates to Epic Beaker and Blood Bank applications.
  • Creates test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes. Performs actual testing of clinical information system configuration and processes, including testing across applications and/or the testing of the application configuration of other analysts. Coordinates and participates in requestor and user testing of application changes.
  • Provides tier-two support to end-users both remotely and in-person. Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves incoming tickets. Serves as a liaison between users and vendors. Coordinates system fixes and changes with software vendors. Coordinates the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations.
