Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD)

The UT Health San Antonio, School of Dentistry, in the Department of Predoctoral Dental Education is seeking a position for Assistant Professor/Clinical, Non-Tenure Track to assume the role of an Assistant Program Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program. This position supports the Program Director in the day-to-day clinical operations of the AEGD program while maintaining a clinical practice and contributing to resident education. The Assistant Program Director will help ensure efficient clinic operations, high-quality patient care, compliance with accreditation and institutional standards, and an outstanding educational experience for AEGD residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Program Director in the daily management of AEGD clinical operations

• Supervise and mentor AEGD residents during patient care, providing clinical instruction and consultation
• Assist in monitoring clinical productivity, quality assurance, patient safety, and compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards
• Collaborate with faculty, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to optimize patient flow, scheduling, and operational efficiency
• Participate in resident evaluations, competency assessments, and clinical performance reviews
• Assist with implementation of clinical policies, workflows, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Support recruitment, orientation, and onboarding of residents and faculty assigned
• Participate in departmental, school, and university committees and meetings
• Promote a collaborative, patient-centered, and educational environment that supports excellence in clinical care

Qualifications:

• DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree
• Completion of an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) or General Practice Residency (GPR) program
• Active Texas dental license
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience in comprehensive general dentistry
• Demonstrate leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to excellence in patient care and resident education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in private practice within the United States
• Previous faculty experience in a dental academic institution, hospital-based residency, or accredited postgraduate dental education program
• Experience supervising or mentoring residents or predoctoral dental students
• Experience with clinical operations, quality improvement, and program administration.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, Epic Wisdom is a plus
• Board certification or Fellowship in a recognized professional organization is desirable
