Position Summary

The Safety Technician supports workplace safety and environmental compliance by conducting routine inspections, assisting with hazardous waste management, maintaining safety equipment, and supporting chemical and waste-handling activities. This is a hands-on position that involves working in plant, laboratory, and outdoor environments and operating heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct safety and environmental inspections of secondary containment systems, fire extinguishers, safety showers, chemical storage areas, heavy equipment, and other safety-related equipment.
• Assist with bulk hazardous waste management, including collecting samples from waste containers, preparing and reviewing required documentation, and preparing containers for proper handling and disposal.
• Operate a forklift to safely move hazardous waste containers and other materials.
• Label chemicals and waste containers according to established safety and environmental procedures.
• Assist with chemical waste collection, handling, and disposal activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No previous professional experience.
• Hands-on experience working with or operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Experience working with chemicals or chemical processes, such as laboratory technician experience, is a plus.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Valid driver's license with a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
