The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Bank Growth Engine (BGE) Director, Technical Product Manager to develop the technical requirements of bringing personalized and data-driven Bank product offers to market in a legally compliant and efficient way, while also overseeing product development.

This candidate will have a deep understanding of business and correlated technology domains. Facilitates the creation of data-driven business and technology strategies to achieve operational objectives, and influence cross-functional teams to ensure business and technology objectives are aligned with clear action plans to deliver solutions. Will be responsible for assisting the business in identifying and managing risks, performance issues, and controls related to domain. Will set context and goals with project teams and monitor systems on a recurring basis.

Leads team of Technical Product Managers responsible for the platforms, strategy, implementation, and monitoring of data-driven technology strategies surrounding their respective business and correlated technology domains. Manages complex and highly strategic projects to ensure the design, requirements, and execution are on track for successful delivery. Works closely with business and technology leaders to manage and understand risks, the impacts of changes, and provides input to aide in decision making within an Agile environment. Directs change management, process improvement, technical troubleshooting, and innovation initiatives across departments units.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

This position can also work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What You’ll Do:

  • Attracts, selects, and develops a Digital or Technology Product Management team in the attainment of product and experience goals and objectives.
  • Manages day to day activities of the Digital or Technology product management team or and actively manages resources to ensure optimal efficiency and effective delivery.
  • Guides team in developing best-in-class practices, tools, and processes to collect data, member feedback, derive insights, and inform product decisions.
  • Leads team to effectively manage ambiguity, and influence others to drive clarity, solutions, and execution plan among team and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with and influences senior leaders, Digital or Technology product managers, developers, vendors, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product strategies and product/ feature launches.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Assess gaps in campaign delivery and contribute to technical feasibility sessions in key council sessions.
  • Continually groom prioritized campaigns.
  • Identify technical requirements for campaigns and create backlog of epics/stories for scrum teams to action.
  • Responsible for assembling technical requirements based on data analysis and translating requirements into user stories.
  • Work to iteratively improve the use of marketing platforms to enable better data utilization.
  • Ensure current solution functionality and integrations continuously meet and exceed needs of those driving marketing campaigns.
  • Drive and manage platform capabilities and roadmaps in accordance with marketing plans and priorities to drive a unified technical roadmap.
  • Work with other teams (Data/Analytics) to support needs facilitated by existing technology solutions (i.e., report building, content changes etc.).
  • Stay abreast of latest MarTech technology updates, changes, community, and practices.
  • Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the role.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follow written risk and compliance policies, standard, and procedures for business activities.
  • Assist in the identification and monitoring of Information Technology General Controls (ITGCs) and Business Application Controls (BACs) to mitigate IT risks.
  • Leverage data to provide insights to business and technology leaders to define strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to envision, define, and develop technology solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Work with IT to understand industry technical solutions to drive build vs. buy recommendations.
  • Work with team to develop detailed product features, requirements and develops implementation plans/roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with core teams to identify dependencies that impact the roadmap.
  • Assist with the development of business cases for technology solutions.
  • Participate in product/capability solution sessions.
  • Leverage problem-solving techniques to understand, establish, and report on system health/performance.
  • Work with the business and technology to ensure data flow diagrams are accurate and that required data is stored to facilitate operations and analysis.

What You’ll Have

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years in a technical product development role, such as technical product manager, software engineer, development manager, business analyst, or architect that includes experience in agile, innovation, problem solving, analytics and system design/ownership.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or leading matrixed or cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Technology/Digital products and/or emerging technology platforms, applications, data analysis and research techniques, and standards.
  • Solid business acumen combined with strong technical and customer experience foundations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an Agile, Lean Product Development and Lean Portfolio Management environment.
  • Knowledge of digital and technology strategy and delivery as it relates to Experience Design concepts and Human Centered Design concepts, roadmap development, journey mapping, competitive analysis and research, and situation analysis methods.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and a high degree of independence.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and leverage and influence leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and execute product strategy.
  • Working knowledge of business domain laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated people management skills.

  • Demonstrated Product-led mindset as it relates to building optimized digital experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of MarTech ecosystem, platforms, and technology.
  • Knowledge of Digital Optimization platforms.
  • Advanced experience in program management and execution experience in a large-scale organization.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of program management methodology (Specifically SAFe Agile).
  • SAFe Agile Certification.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $138,230 - $264,200.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
