The Opportunity

In this Partnership Development role, you will support our Small Business Insurance.

Develops, establishes, and continues on-going relationships between the company, strategic partners and customers. Provides business opportunity analysis, assesses potential markets, and develops projects for use in new marketing initiatives. Works independently and applies expert knowledge of the business and its products. Anticipates opportunities and potential solutions and leads team through the problem resolution process.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • leads and motivates cross-functional team members in the development and implementation of key business development initiatives.

  • Influences the strategic activities/direction that directly leads to increased business development.

  • Drives and directs quality work efforts and advises senior management on issues.

  • Negotiates with and influences management of various sales channels to provide focus or additional training to meet market objectives.

  • Assesses, evaluates, establishes and develops business opportunities by collecting internal knowledge and assessing financial viability of the organization/group.

  • Influences the development and enhancement of policies, standards and procedures.

  • Accountable for achieving business objectives and results; provides guidance to cross-functional team members to ensure goal achievement and team success.

  • Conducts market research and develops new initiatives and partnerships.

  • Anticipate how the organization must adapt to changes in the industry to sustain competitive advantage.

  • Develops creative presentations and delivers compelling stories with research findings to senior leadership.

  • Develops internal processes and policies to support future growth opportunities to provide USAA (or USAAEF) services in communities where USAA (or USAAEF) does not have a physical presence.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years of business development and/or sales experience in a financial services industry.

  • Expert knowledge of specific industry products, processes, research techniques and business performance metrics, goals and objectives.

  • Extensive experience successfully engaging with potential clients.

  • Expertise in presenting information to potential customers and make dynamic presentations to large groups from within and outside the company.

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to simultaneously manage numerous sales campaigns.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate.

  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive situations and confidential information with discretion.

  • Demonstrated experience processing complex information and quickly identifying innovative solutions that meet the needs of potential clients.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft office products.

What sets you apart:

  • Small Business Insurance experience

  • Experience with partnering with brands, MGA’s and Brokers

  • Insurtech or embedded insurance experience

  • Experience with CRM systems

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to use data to make informed decisions

  • Excellent executive level verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship management skills

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
