Job Description


Position is responsible for the management post-award administration in the central Office of Sponsored Programs and serve as an authorized representative for the institution. Oversees, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for post-award duties to ensure compliance of internal and external procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of post-award processes that include reviewing and approving activity for professional staff. Review, approve and post/submit journal entries and other transactions prepared by junior managers.
  • Assigns duties to personnel and oversees work in progress for all post-award activities.
  • Provides internal/ external training for all post-award activities.
  • Reviews, provides institutional approval, and submits financial and other required reports prepared by OSP staff as required by terms and conditions of sponsored awards.
  • Provides policy and procedure interpretation to academic and ancillary departments and prepares specialized reports to federal and other sponsoring agencies.
  • Manages staff to include interviewing, hiring and training of employees; setting and adjusting pay rates and hours of work; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in employment status; handling complaints/ grievances and disciplining when necessary.
  • Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts and provides guidance to principal investigators and ancillary staff on financial matters pertaining to restricted fund groups.
  • Proactively identifies, recommends, and implements process improvement opportunities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with sponsored programs financial administration software applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal, state, and other sponsor regulations related to sponsored programs, especially the OMB Uniform Guidance.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience examining and analyzing financial transactions to develop accurate reports, identify viable solutions, forecast consequences of proposed action, and implement a course of action.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, take ownership of the resolution of problems, be flexible and accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet both internal and external deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both faculty and administrative staff and ancillary units involved in sponsored programs administration.
  • Capability to work with all types of sponsored programs including training, public service, and basic science and clinical research.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage priorities and be proactive in resolving issues.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

Required Skills

Four (4) years of pre/post-award administration experience is required.
