Adjunct Faculty Position in Molecular Diagnostics

The Department of Health Sciences-Medical Laboratory Sciences in the School of Health Professions invites applications for the position of Part-Time Adjunct Faculty to assist with the development and implementation of Molecular Diagnostics courses in the MLS program. This position will begin in December 2025 and will be responsible for teaching courses (lecture and laboratory) in the Spring 2026 semester.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to design and develop course content for a molecular diagnostics course to include both lecture and laboratory components for the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program.
  • Create and deliver classroom and online instructional materials, including lectures, study resources, and assessments.
  • Develop core curriculum outlines and coordinate with the Program Director to define key instructional components.
  • Contribute to the development of comprehensive examination materials in molecular diagnostics.
  • Establish course and program learning objectives that align with the mission and educational goals of the program, school, and UT Health San Antonio.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in molecular diagnostics through an in-person format, provide timely and constructive feedback on student performance, and foster meaningful student engagement throughout the course.

Qualified candidates must have:

Certification as a Technologist in Molecular Biology: MB(ASCP); and

A minimum of a master’s degree in an MLS-appropriate discipline.

Faculty may also engage in collaborative scholarly activities. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in community, professional, and university service activities, as appropriate. This is a part-time (12 month) adjunct position and reports to the Chair of the Health Sciences Department.

In addition to the School of Health Professions, the UT Health San Antonio also has a Medical School, Dental School, Nursing School, School of Public Health, and a Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
