Open Rank – Pain Medicine Physician

The Department of Anesthesiology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a physician with specialization in Pain Medicine. The candidate will fill a faculty position to provide advanced pain management care for patients at the UT Health Pain Consultants Clinic, UT Multispecialty and Research Hospital, University Hospital, and other clinical venues as developed, Monday through Friday as needed. Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Evaluation and Management of patients with painful conditions of the spine, major joints, soft tissues, and nervous system.
  • Performance of clinical visits, consults, and interventional pain procedures.
  • Participation in consult call coverage in keeping with the standards for the Department, to be shared among all Pain Medicine faculty.
  • Teaching and instruction of fellows, residents, and medical students in pain management techniques and practices including didactic lectures, simulation training, and/or workshops as offered based on interest.
  • Supervision of Advanced Practice Providers or availability for consultation.
  • Participation as a fellow mentor and a member of the clinical competency committee (CCC).
  • Participation as a core faculty member for the Pain Medicine Fellowship.
  • Pursuit of scholarly activity sufficient to stay abreast of medical advances in Pain Medicine.
  • Participation in administrative duties and committee service is optional and provides professional development.

MD, DO or Foreign Equivalent

Experience: NONE

Completion of Core Residency Training in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, or other ABMS specialties as approved by the Chair of Anesthesiology and the Division Chief of Pain Medicine.

Completion of an ACGME Accredited 12-month Pain Medicine Fellowship

Board Certification or board eligible in Core Specialty

Board Certification or board eligible in Pain Medicine

Texas Medical License or eligible to obtain

Valid DEA Registration Number (Controlled Substance Registration Certificate)
