The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time academic faculty position of Specialist (Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to join the clinical service, composed of plastic surgeons and advanced practice providers. The successful candidate will have an interest in inpatient care, understand the continuum of care and case management. Qualified individuals will have completed an approved advanced graduated nurse or physician assistant program and must be licensed in Texas.
The position serves as a pivotal team member in our UT Health San Antonio and University Health System outpatient clinics, as well as in our inpatient service at MSRH and University Health, focusing on the delivery of the extremity trauma service. This is an exciting sub-specialty involving the treatment of acute extremity trauma as well as delayed reconstruction and liaison with orthopedic surgery. This individual will conduct comprehensive assessment of surgical patients throughout the continuum of care in the ambulatory and inpatient settings as well as assisting in the operating room. This Advance Practice Provider position also includes evaluations of new patients, follow up patients, post-operative and post-procedure patients, and hospital follow up continuity of care clinic. This individual will be available to cover additional clinics, as assigned by the Division Chief, and other designated clinics for patient access and coverage. This individual will participate in APP night call coverage, approximately 2 calls per month. This individual will support the plastic surgeons and assist the services of reconstructive and aesthetics, as well as craniofacial and extremity trauma, by creating and fostering important relationships with other services, as well as participating in training UT Health San Antonio residents and medical students.
