Sup, Clin Health IT Supp Spec

This mission-critical role will under general direction provides leadership support, defines systems scope and objectives based on each user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Supervises the UT Health Physician's helpdesk operations.

• Oversees and provides day to day support services for employee technology resources, ensuring a high-quality end-user experience.
• Specific responsibilities include installations, upgrades and troubleshooting of all new and existing hardware and software; server and network administration; responsible for equipment purchasing; and the coordination and scheduling of vendors and maintenance providers.
• Manages the fulfillment of IT service requests including requests for new equipment, including, but not limited to, workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, and/or telephones.
• Ensures that the UT Health Physicians Helpdesk follows all UTHSCSA and UT Health Physician policies and procedures including inventory control and reporting, purchasing requirements, and other required policies and procedures.
• Represents department on institution-wide technology committees and provides support for special applications and projects for the end-users.
• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of Health-IT Helpdesk employees.
• Coordinates and supervises daily activities, coaches and motivates staff, and ensures that job-related training needs are met.
• Reviews staff reports and progress on projects.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and both PC and MAC software, hardware, operating systems and network environments.
• Ability to read and follow complex instructions, and to analyze and diagnose problems with computer workstations in a networked environment.
• Ability to speak and interact with all levels of computer users.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, attentive to details, setting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism in delegating assignments and following-up on project completion and accuracy.
• Ability to follow and provide complex instructions as well as to analyze and diagnose problems within the network environment.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to collaborate and gain cooperation in team-oriented environment.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field. Four years of additional Supervisory experience in a Healthcare setting may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

EXPERIENCE:

• Seven (7) years of experience is required.
• Experience in a Healthcare environment is highly preferred.
• Epic experience is a plus.
