Research Laboratory Technician-Senior

Job Description
Under limited supervision, responsible for providing technical lab support by performing complex laboratory and research related tasks. Performs a full range of laboratory technician assignments and uses considerable judgment in making decisions requiring the interpretation and application of guidelines. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
This role will support Dr. Volpi's clinical trial initiatives and support day to day lab functions.
Responsibilities
- Administers the routine functions of the research laboratory and outlines technical procedures used in experiments; acts as specialist on laboratory methods and equipment functions.
- Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
- Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions; ensures laboratory compliance and record keeping.
- Evaluates experiment results using statistical and multivariate analysis.
- May instruct a laboratory academic section in laboratory techniques, instruments, methods, and procedures.
- Coordinates the work of other laboratory technicians by scheduling assignments and overseeing the work.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general research laboratory methods and protocols.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment.
- Experience with performing assays.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and follow written protocols.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and databases.
- Independent thinking skills, organized, industrious, and professional demeanor.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required; Associate's Degree degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience based on education level is required.
- Experience with tissue fixation, immunohistochemistry, preparation of molar solutions, pipetting, and general mass spectrometry techniques is highly valued. (Highly Preferred).
- Familiarity with these methods will be highly sought after. (Highly Preferred).
Required Skills
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience based on education level is required.
