The Speech Language Pathologist provides services for a variety of patients throughout their continuum of care at MSRH including oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT, urology, spine, thoracic surgery patient populations, and others as acquired.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program.
Certification/Licensure:
- CCC SLP Required
- BLS required
1. Evaluates patients and utilizes a wide variety of therapeutic techniques to assist with progressing and treating patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
2. Performs evaluations with special attention to swallowing abilities and oral feeding before discharging.
3. Documents test results and develops individualized treatment plans which will enhance the patient's abilities in communication and swallowing.
4. Confers with associates and institutes treatment utilizing corrective exercises and specialized equipment.
5.Maintains active support and communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
6.Provides patient and parent/caregiver education and training for home exercise programs when appropriate.
7.Supports the mission, vision, and values of MSRH, with a demonstrated ability to demonstrate a culture of relationship-based care.
8.Prioritizes patients based on patients individual needs as well as colleague/surgeon/provider preference in accordance with MSRH protocols and procedures.
9.Utilizes evidence-based framework to establish best practices for a wide variety of patients
10.Performs all other duties as assigned.
