Supervises and coordinates activities of the Lab with responsibility for directing the technical activities of the assigned laboratory and its personnel.

• Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques.
• Experience documenting and following procedures/protocols.
• Knowledge of procedures, instruments in use, and quality control measures within the laboratory.
• Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and conducting regular assessments to record the lab's equipment performance.
• Ability to operate in a fast paced environment with established time constraints.
• Ability to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education

• Bachelor degree in a related scientifc field is required.

• Manages laboratory services and maintains an efficient laboratory environment.
• Supervises all lab personnel, onboards and trains new technicians and graduate students working in the assigned laboratory.
• Researches and develops new procedures to ensure quality control and efficiency of operation for the laboratory.
• Manages inventory and maintenance of supplies throughout the laboratory.
• Provides input into the development of departmental policies and procedures, assists with developing new technical procedures and ensures services are performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
• Researches current scientific literature for new or improved research protocols; works closely with Faculty, other research staff members and technicians concerning scientific, research and administrative matters.
• Assists the department director in budget preparation and personnel evaluations.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
