Description

Provides technical expertise for development and design of capital, expense and maintenance projects. Provides project management skills to execute the construction of projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner.

  • Participates in various stages of project development including project identification, economic and feasibility analyses, early-phase design, and cost estimation.
  • Prepares and submits “Authorization for Expenditures” (AFE’s) for capital and expense projects per process design.
  • Prepares specifications and procures materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects.

  • Provides technical support to all refinery departments that will result in safe, efficient and cost effective installations.
  • Oversees and coordinates contract personnel for engineering, design and installation of capital, expense and maintenance projects.
  • Performs cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
  • Assists in the optimization of existing assets, which may include hydraulic analysis.
  • Reduces potential risk to public safety and environment, and minimizes company liability.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule.
  • Follows all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Provides technical expertise to create, update, and maintain Valero Standards and Engineering Specifications.
  • Coordinates with other departments such as Right-of-Way, Safety & Environmental, Regulatory Compliance, and Operations in the management and development of projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

  • Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
  • 2+ years of experience in the following area(s):
    • engineering experience in a pipeline, terminal or related operating environment required.

  • Ability to perform standard engineering calculations pertaining to liquid flow and hydraulics required.

  • Working experience and knowledge of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and engineering design drawings required.

  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
  • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
  • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
  • Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel)

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
