As an External Reporting Analyst you will, under direct supervision, prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and other regulatory agencies, and other filings.

• Assists in preparing reports filed with the SEC, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, Form 11-K, and other regulatory statements as required.
• Prepares and/or reviews workpapers supporting financial statement disclosures.
• Reviews XBRL instance documents as assigned.
• Collaborates with departments as necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy of support workpapers for financial reporting.
• Prepares work papers and drafts financial statements (including footnotes) as assigned for: audits of defined contribution plans (Form 11-K) and related Form 5500 information; limited-scope audits of defined benefit pension plans and related Form 5500 information; Form 8-K filings associated with acquisitions, dispositions, retrospectively adjusted financial statements, etc.; separate company financial statements (audited and non-audited); other reports as assigned.
• Keeps current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and incorporates into the reporting process as necessary.
• Assists with identifying and resolving technical accounting and/or reporting issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Minimum Requirements:

• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting required.
• 2+ years of experience in the following areas: Accounting, Public Accounting, and/or Auditing experience required.

Preferred Requirements:

• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience in the refining industry preferred.
• Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• Experience applying XBRL preferred.
• Experience using Workiva's Wdesk application preferred.
• Experience using SAP preferred
