As a Compliance Auditor you will assist Internal Audit Management in safeguarding corporate assets, supporting profitable operations, and ensuring the reliability and accuracy of financial information through the examination and evaluation of financial and operational controls and procedures. Provides observations and recommendations to improve internal controls and business processes. Additionally, ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and international regulations, with an emphasis on low‑carbon and clean fuels programs and other applicable regulatory requirements.

- Assist with audit project planning, including preliminary interviews, preparation of audit planning memorandums, risk assessments, and development of risk and control matrices.
- Assist in the development of audit programs and procedures designed to address identified risks and compliance requirements.
- Execute compliance audit and advisory engagements, including control identification, testing, audit program execution, documentation of findings, and follow‑up on remediation efforts.
- Assist with the preparation of clear, concise written audit reports and monitors the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Support the development and execution of the annual audit plan.
- Collaborate with business partners, including Fuels Regulatory Assurance, to support ongoing compliance with federal, state, and international regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing assessments related to clean fuels and/or low‑carbon compliance initiatives.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of existing and proposed low‑carbon, clean fuels, and other regulatory requirements, and assists in evaluating the impact of regulatory changes on the business.
- Develop and deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on low‑carbon regulations and compliance responsibilities.
- Assist Internal Audit Management with administrative and departmental responsibilities, as needed.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Environmental Science, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in the following area(s): Combined experience in compliance, internal auditing, public accounting, and/or general accounting required.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
Preferred Requirements:
- 1 year of internal audit experience preferred.
- Experience using data analytic/database tools (ACCESS, SQL, PowerQuery or other querying tools).
- Familiarity with low carbon and clean fuels regulations, particularly related to transportation fuels preferred.
- Experience in the refining and marketing business preferred.
- SAP systems experience preferred.
