Responsibilities:
- Directs all activities related to the validation and verification of the consistent quality and safety of all products supplied to Whataburger.
- Oversees 3rd party and/or FSQA audits of individual units for food safety.
- Reviews regulatory inspection reports (Health Department).
- Develops and oversees all QA programs including Supplier and Product approval process, Product Compliance program, Mock Recalls, Product Quality Complaints, Product Specs.
- Leads Product Commercialization including specification development, supplier and product approval process.
- Responsible for nutrition reporting and food regulatory compliance for all company items, food service and retail.
- Develops and oversees product traceability program for both food service and retail food items.
- Maintains knowledge of food safety, HACCP, current industry issues and new technology regarding food and packaging products and restaurants
- Collaborates with Supply Chain, Restaurant Operations and Field Training and Communications on emerging food safety concerns, crisis, and current industry issues.
- Actively participates in technical associations to maintain the most updated industry knowledge.
- Serves as a liaison with regulatory and industry officials to maintain knowledge of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Presents regulatory/legislative comments to proposed rules as necessary.
- Oversees and directs the general & administrative budget for QA and Food Safety departments
- Responsible for identifying opportunities to conserve financial resources in day-to-day activities and planning
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Skills:
- Advanced professional or theoretical knowledge and functional concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities
- Advanced understanding of the function’s structure and policies with an advanced understanding of the structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants LLC
- Advanced understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures
- Advanced ability to create and implement strategic direction
- Advanced understanding of performance review process
- Advanced understanding of portfolio management: input to output, decision making process, logical sequence of activities, interdependencies between activities/tasks, deliverable prioritization, and timeline
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of educational and work experience required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- 9+ years’ experience as project or program director
