REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree and a law degree from an accredited law school
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience drafting and negotiating, engineering and construction proposals and contracts
• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, or any other state bar with reciprocity
• Excellent academic and professional credentials (e.g., top 25% of law school class, law review, Texas Construction Law specialization; published articles)
• Strong document drafting and negotiating skills
• Superior verbal and analytical ability
• Demonstrated ethical standards of the highest order
• Ability to be collaborative, adaptive, and resourceful
• Possess understanding of basic financial concepts, pricing, and project metrics
• Capable of working effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work in a challenging and rapidly changing business environment
• Principally located in San Antonio with option to include Houston, Texas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active participation in Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association or equivalent trade organizations
• Experience with a construction or engineering company or with a recognized law firm
• Experience working with and supporting major capital projects
• Transactional experience in contract management, or in change management is a plus, as is EPC experience
• Experience with contractor licensing would be beneficial, but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Will work in a general office environment. Capable of operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from a distance of 20 inches or less.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support business formation teams with negotiating service agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers
• Interface with clients within Zachry to support all legal needs of the organization
• Participate in and contribute towards continuous improvement of services and processes to the Zachry organization
• Provide practical legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced environment
• Supporting proposals across multiple construction and service lines, including Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC)
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of service agreements as well as general contractor agreements
• Advising and assisting in the contract management and change management processes
• Coordinate legal research and analysis
• Complete special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
