Zachry Group is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional for their Mechanical equipment/ Piping Estimator role. This position requires a strong blend of analytical, communication, and organizational skills to develop accurate project estimates. The ability to analyze project plans, specifications, and historical data is crucial, as is the capacity to work well with others and continuously improve.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Passed the Engineering in Training (EIT) exam or Professional Engineer
- 4 - 7 years of experience working in the Industrial Construction or Maintenance industry as a craft worker. (Piping or millwright related)

Strong communications skills, specifically in reading/writing as it relates to Estimating.

- Performs all aspects of developing a preliminary or definitive estimate for mechanical equipment installation utilizing company owned software/spreadsheets.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Prepare detailed material take-offs, perform historical trend analysis and validate bills of quantities.
Recommends and incorporates labor production and material cost decisions into the estimate.
- Review estimates for accuracy and inclusion of all deliverables.
- Revises estimates when scope of project changes or other new information becomes available.
- Participate in cost/pricing reviews with executive leadership as required.
- Uses various systems and software, including In-Eight estimate and various Microsoft Products to analyze data and prepare estimate recommendations.
- Attend bid meetings and site visits to derive a scope of work, deliverables, etc. as required.
Prepare clear, detailed basis-of-estimate documentation that substantiates quantities and pricing while clearly defining assumptions and clarifications, ensuring transparency in estimate scope and safeguarding the company from potential risks, uncertainties, and unknown project conditions.
Performs other responsible duties as required to support new project development and support of ongoing jobs.
Maintain thorough documentation and retention of all critical project records that directly impact the estimate.
- Ability to compile material and labor take-offs and solicit/evaluate pricing from vendors and suppliers.
- Understands estimate types (Lump Sum, T&M, Fixed Fee, Budgetary, Unit Rates, Unit Price).
Highly self-motivated to perform data analysis and conduct independent research in support of ongoing self-education and the continuous improvement of estimating processes during and between projects
