The Operations & Maintenance Specialist is a self-starter and member of a multi-disciplined crew responsible for all operations and maintenance activities of the pipeline, compressor stations and pump stations. This includes pipelines, compressor and pump stations, measurement and regulation stations, and associated pipeline systems. Responsibilities include monitoring, tracking, troubleshooting, repair, and reporting of all critical assets. The O&M Specialist is an integral part of the predictive and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of all pipeline systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Perform pipeline operations and maintenance duties.
  • Maintain all pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, liquid loading systems, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment including compressors, turbines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Perform the duties of a pipeline and compressor station operations and maintenance technician.
  • Strive to maintain pipeline, pump stations, compressor station reliability to meet daily product nominations.
  • Expert level maintenance and troubleshooting of station mechanical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment including compressors, turbines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and test equipment, including but not limited to, analog and digital multi-meters, pressure and temperature calibrators, vibration analyzers, etc.
  • Perform pipeline operations and repair activities which may include obtaining and reading rectifiers, performing atmospheric corrosion inspections, obtaining pipe to soil reading, monitoring the ROW for encroachments, performing leak surveys, and handling high-pressure pipeline product.
  • Performs other pipeline maintenance as required, such as valve maintenance, pigging, responding to encroachments, pipeline patrols, and performing public awareness and emergency response, etc.
  • Maintain the facility and strive for the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
  • Utilizes a maintenance management system to schedule maintenance and record maintenance data and informs the pipeline management team of potential problems and failures in a timely manner.
  • Works with the maintenance team to expeditiously resolve problems and improve pipeline and compressor station reliability and safety.
  • Perform all duties applying safety procedures and adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Maintains compliance with permits including documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline systems, compression, and I&E equipment is a must.
  • General knowledge of measurement operations.
  • Strong maintenance diagnostic skills for mechanical equipment and control systems.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and test equipment.
  • Proficient with computers and productivity software including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable government regulations, including DOT Part 192, DOT Part 195, EPA, OSHA, NEC, and related technical and safety codes.
  • Valid driver's license.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
