Job Summary:

The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance programs with a main focus on air compliance. The Environmental Coordinator will assist with conducting audits, providing training on environmental-related topics, evaluating project and maintenance activities, maintaining operating permits and compliance plans, interacting with regulatory agencies and participating in emergency preparedness.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing (personally or through contractors) environmental permits and reports as necessary.
  • Conducts routine site inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Maintains accurate environmental records and databases, ensuring documentation is audit-ready at all times.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (operations, engineering, EHS) to integrate environmental compliance into daily operations.
  • Assists in the creation, review, and updates of EHS policies, programs, processes, systems, training and tools in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Responsible for staying current with federal, state and local regulations and reporting requirements in relation to environmental compliance.
  • Will be required to travel to HEP field locations as needed to provide compliance support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledgeable about environmental regulations, permits, and reporting obligations.
  • Committed to staying informed about changing environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Skilled in identifying and addressing environmental compliance challenges.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Able to manage multiple projects at once effectively.
  • Competent in identifying and evaluating environmental risks.
  • Familiar with occupational health and safety standards and practices.
  • Capable of leading and inspiring employees to focus on safety and environmental compliance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3 years’ experience working within the environmental and compliance field, preferably with an oil and gas company, midstream, refining/chemical plant, or environmental consulting

Certifications:

  • None required

Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
